I live in PA - travel back forth from East Coast couple times a year - either by auto/plane/truck rental to visit my and granddaughter in San Diego Ca. On May 20, 2019 I was traveling down #I 5 major corridor from southern Calif(next to Mexican border) to LaJolla to visit with my daughter.

It was raining out - tons of traffic on heavily traveled motorist @6:30am - I was hit from behind on left rear bumper which caused me to hit the back end of a pick up truck who had his tail gate down. I didn't see the vehicle who hit me from behind as traffic was heavy and when I got hit - I immediately looked even harder in front of me. So I filed claim - the agent kept calling me asking me questions which I readily answered several times being taped. She started asking me where/when/why I was in Calif - then the questions got worst - she now wanted to talk to family members in regard to my incident.

Her thought process deemed from a 2 day period where they had cxl'd my policy I obtained in Dec 2018 - when I went to pay my preminum on Feb 11, 2019 the site said my policy was cxl'd - I immediately called them - paid 2x the required amount which was almost $500 for a new policy, this happened on Feb 13, 2019 2 days later - no email - no notification of cxl'd policy. Ok so I traveled in my vehicle cross country in April 2019 from PA to CA to spend time like I always do with my girls. The P agent started asking me for travel receipts/where did I stay along the trip/how many days it took me/etc. So I calmly answered all her questions.

The next thing she wanted my son's info since I also visit him - his phone # so I gave it to her - she called my son asking him all types of questions - he finally explained that I stay w/his sister and him - he wasn't there when the incident occurred - he lives 3 hrs away from San Diego - she started asking him more in depth info - he finally said - enough is enough now I see why my mother has been so upset and stressed out causing more of a health issue on myself. I am 73 years old and have a few medical issues. So he ended up the call by telling her not to ever call him again because of her bizzard attitude. Next she sends me an email - telling me that she wants my daughter's info - my bank statements unaltered and that they were going to send out a person physically to examine my vehicle because it may be a total loss.

I had my son go thru the process of taking pic on the P app of the damage. This incident only caused damage to left rear bumper and front hood area was pushed in somewhat - the airbags never went off. At this point - I said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH - I was not going to send them anything - I spoke with my daughter - she said she would never talk to them - the whole idea of Progressive invading my personal info and my children's info was too much. I said I'm done - next thing I know the P agent send a certified letter in mail to my son's house stating all their "rules/regulations" what I was obligated to do/etc just to cover themselves.

And they had a right to deny claim. Which in my opinion I didn't even want them near my vehicle - didn't want to talk to agent or have anything to do with P. My family members back east agreed to help me fix my vehicle with new parts as they are in the auto repair business. So after the weekend I decided to finish the last 2 payments due to Progressive - have my vehicle towed back east - and be done with them.

I feel totally violated by P with their "scare tactics" and intimidation to me. As I have never in my 57 years of driving never ever had an accident. I only had 2 tix in NJ one for speeding while I worked in Atlantic City NJ and one for not signing my registration card on the back. I am so irate my blood pressure has went sky high and my stress level is over the limit.

I have to do something - I know I'm in the right - never lied - told the truth. As of May 12, 2019 I went into my claim online and told them to cxl it - I know they were going to deny me and raise my rates. I just want someone to hear this bizzare tale of how seniors are being targeted by the countries #1 insurance agency. Thank you for reading/any help is so welcomed.

Thanks again. Of course I know we can't fight City Hall because it's all about the power they hold against us.

Reason of review: Agent was attacking me by harrassing me, intimading me basically didn't believe my statement.

Monetary Loss: $1500.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Location: 4141 Ruffin Road, San Diego, CA 92123

As they saw your age on your policy they probably did all that on purpose to get the results wanted. You give up on the claim by so many irrelevant questions to your children being that you are an elderly citizen and would not like that invasion of privacy, neither your children.

These are tactics they use to keep the money that legally should be paid to you. They know they have to pay, but will use all kind of dishonest tricks to upset you, so you finally give up on the claim. Progressive spends millions in silly ads, to get you as a policy holder that has to pay them, but as soon as a claim is made they turn into Mr Hyde and all rules are broken as long as they paid the minimum or pay nothing at all.

For that reason they hire persons with low morals that are willing to cheat, lie , mock, insult in order to wear you out. Ethics or honesty are not words ever mentioned at the halls of Progressive Insurance.
